Portuguese network of Investment Protection Agreements

Updated: Dec 11, 2020

Portuguese Flag

Portugal developed a useful network of Investment Protection Agreements, notably for investments in Portuguese speaking countries and related areas of regional cooperation (ASEAN, ECOWAS, Mercosul, SADC).

Together with its network of double tax treaties, the set of investment protection agreements turns Portugal an outstanding investment hub from and to the European Union.

Considering the above, the existing IPA’s with African countries and member of the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (CPLP) are of outmost relevance for the international investor.

You can find here the list of IPA's already entered by Portugal.
